Thank you, for visiting a page about an organization that is 14 years in development, both spiritually and physically. A lot has happened, including a global pandemic that sent housing all over the world into the high demand and rates we have never seen. This made a big dream for most young adults of owning a home nearly impossible, but for some, just seeking to get shelter and a basic apartment simply unattainable.
That is about the time when a movement called, “the tiny house movement” began to take off. We began to see more tv shows, full time RV families and yes, tiny house living communities.
I believe this was a catalyst to help young people find sustainable housing in a market that is close to hopeless of buying into. As a former property manager in a growing city, I saw first hand how this affected my community. And there was nothing I could do to help anyone as the ownership raised rates, and families began moving back to multi-generational living with parents, young people living with 5-6 roommates to be able to afford rents that doubled overnight. But there was a spotlight on a bigger issue, what about people who had no natural supports, no jobs, or reliable friends to help them out?
I have been researching and developing this “Royal Gen” non profit for years, and it seemed like tiny houses were the perfect solution now for many of the issues of the day, and I began to see that our local and state government were starting to catch on as well, so I knew it was time. Tiny houses are mobile, sustainable, less expensive private dwellings that youth aging out of foster care could move into as they exit the system and then, if they are motivated and work hard, they will have the opportunity to purchase the mobile home.
I always try and think what would it be like to have no door you can lock behind you, no address to get mail or legal documents sent to, or a community to belong to. This motivates me every single day to get to the first kiddo that will be a resident at EMPOWER point, which will (God willingly) be the name of the first tiny house community in eastern Washington for youth aging out of foster care.
I pray you will feel motivated as well, come alongside me, alongside them and lets do what we can to brighten their world!
